For the past decade, Dr. Gary Steinhardt has made it his life's mission to honor and help a sometimes forgotten part of our population.
"Each veteran that served contributed something, effort in one way or another. And it's important that we recognize them particularly those having difficulty adjusting," commented Dr. Steinhardt.
"Having Gary take charge of a lot of these things, I thought it'd be a good award, a good recognition for him," adds Randy Fairchild of Veterans Services.
After 30 years of serving our country, the father of two has spent the past ten years leading the Tippecanoe County Veterans Council.
"I've never forgotten the people that didn't have a chance to have another good day. I feel that many of the things I've done have been because of my feelings for them," said Steinhardt
Dr. Steinhardt works hard overseeing numerous events and services for local vets including Memorial Day and Pearl Harbor Day. His big goal for the coming years is making sure every veteran's grave in the county receives a flag display on memorial day.
We salute Dr. Gary Steinhardt our Making a Difference winner for the month of August.
