LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The results have been released for the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100,000 challenge.
Almost Home Humane Society placed second in Division I and was awarded Most Improved Player.
The shelter was also awarded a check for $30,000.
Michelle Warren, Executive Director of the Almost Home Humane Society, said fifty other shelters participated, including ten in their division.
Warren said between June 1 and August 31, the shelter saved 790 animals.
Warren said the money will be used to treat their animals.
“Anything we can do to make their time with us better. We will put that money towards medical treatment, vaccines, food, enrichment items,” said Warren.
Almost Home was the only shelter from Indiana in the contest.
A shooting on Lafayette's south side is under investigation.
It's been nearly a month since a tornado damaged Southwestern Middle School and Mintonye Elementary School, giving faculty the task of helping students transition to their new surroundings.
Donations are being accepted to help around 300 seniors receive a holiday gift.
