CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A group of runners in Carroll County started their Saturday with a 13-mile run.
The third-annual Adam Mills Covered Bridge Half Marathon took place Saturday morning in Flora. The race course, which was originally the Home of the Purdue Half Marathon, includes the historic Adam Mills Covered Bridge.
Organizers said runners from across the Midwest find the unique bridge a selling point for the race.
"One of the key points for this race is with the bridge and the fall colors near the bridge," said Carroll County Community Center Director Don Franklin. "It really is an attraction for a lot of runners who run the half marathon.
"From a competitive stand point, I think it's great when you have long stretches and you can see anyone when you're running down," said half marathon winner Bryce Carlson. "You can see how far they are, and if you're out running with friends, there is the turn around point when you can see them when you're coming in and they're coming out."
The race has had different dates every year but organizers said they hope to keep the race on the last weekend of September from now on.
