PERU, Ind. (AP) — Police say a man who reportedly fired gunshots and barricaded himself in his home in the northern Indiana city of Peru has been taken into custody.
State police Sgt. Tony Slocum says the man was arrested about 8:15 a.m. Friday, nearly four hours after police received reports of gunshots at a house.
Officers surrounded the house as the standoff began. Peru's schools canceled classes for the day in response to the standoff.
Slocum says the man who was taken into custody allegedly fired shots inside his own home in the city about midway between South Bend and Indianapolis. No injuries were reported.
Slocum says the incident remains under investigation.
