LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Downtown Lafayette drivers will soon have a place to stop forgas.
A new Marathon gas station and Quick Stop convenience storewill be built at the corner of 9th Street and Ferry Street. Thespace near O'Rear's Pastry Shop has been vacant for many years.
Project Manager Jim Griffin of J2LR Contractors fromIndianapolis said construction will include more than just thestore.
“We are projecting an 18-week process that will encompassthis whole lot. It will include new sidewalks, handicap ramps oneach corner, and new curbing all the way around. It will be anupscale project for this area and and it will definitely improvethe downtown area,” he explained.
The gas station and convenience store should be finished byearly October 2010.
