MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) - The White County Sheriff's Office takes down two teenage suspects who, investigators say, stole two vehicles and items from others, and also burglarized a home.
According to the Sheriff's Office, around 6:40 p.m. on Nov. 10, Monticello Police Officer Mike Thomas located a stolen vehicle at Illinois and Jefferson streets in Monticello.
He attempted to stop the car, but the driver refused to stop. As another officer joined in the pursuit, the car continued to East Washington and then to County Road 650 East.
It then drove north on State Road 39.
Sheriff's deputies deployed stop sticks on State Road 39 just north of County Road 200 North. The stop sticks were successful but the car continued north for roughly one more mile.
It then went off the road into a field on the west side of the roadway, coming to a rest. Two people ran from the car, but were caught and taken into custody by the Monticello Police Department and the White County Sheriff's Office.
They were later identified as a 15-year-old male and a 13-year-old female.
After further investigation it was found the two kids had stolen two cars, burglarized one residence and taken several items from other cars over the course of the weekend.
The male was transported to a juvenile detention center and the female was released to her mother.
