TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A routine traffic stop led to a suspect going to jail for possession of illegal drugs.
On July 7, around 11:30 p.m., 22-year-old Andrew P. Amrein of Okeana, Ohio, was pulled over on I-65 northbound near mm 178 for a minor traffic violation.
During the conversation with Amrein, the Indiana State Police trooper became suspicious of criminal activity.
A K-9 alerted on the car and the trooper and a West Lafayette police officer found heroin in the vehicle.
Amrein was taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail on a preliminary charge of Possession of Schedule I or II Drug.
The investigation is ongoing.
