WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A White County resident said he was prompted to call the sheriff's office Sunday morning after people could be seen passed out in a nearby front yard. The call resulted in more than a dozen Chicago-area adults sitting in jail.
According to the White County Sheriff's Office, a report of a possible large underage party came in just after 9 a.m. Sunday.
The person to call dispatchers said the party appeared to be in the area of Lake Road 51 West – the complainant also noted there were two women in the neighbor's yard lying on the grass, putting their legs and arms up in the air.
Deputies arrived a short time later and found the two women lying next to the side of the road on Lake Road 51 West.
After briefly interviewing the women, they led deputies back to a home down the street where the party had taken place.
Deputies arrested 17 adults at the home on charges of underage consumption of alcohol. They also took one juvenile into custody.
All of those arrested were booked into the White County Jail, and the juvenile was detained and later released to his parents.
The sheriff's office says all the people arrested are from the Chicago area.
The Monticello Police Department assisted in the investigation.
