LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Lafayette man is sentenced to two decades behind bars after pleading guilty to two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon and confinement.
Tippecanoe County Prosecutor Pat Harrington said Michael Brown, 35, was sentenced to 20 years in prison and community corrections and four years of probation.
In February, Harrington said Brown approached a man at a Lafayette apartment and another man at Walmart. Harrington said on both occasions, Brown demanded the person drive to an ATM and withdraw money.
Harrington said Brown told investigators he used the money on prescription drugs.
A shooting on Lafayette's south side is under investigation.
It's been nearly a month since a tornado damaged Southwestern Middle School and Mintonye Elementary School, giving faculty the task of helping students transition to their new surroundings.
