LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Formal charges were filed Wednesday morning against a Lafayette man accused of robbing the Regions Bank on Teal Road last week.
According to witnesses, a man entered the bank around noon October 18. Witnesses told investigators a man wearing a white mask and baseball hat demanded money. Witnesses told officers the man left in a gray pickup truck and were able to get a license plate number.
Moments later an officer spotted the car matching the license plate numbers given by witnesses. Police arrested 48-year-old Kenneth Wetterman of Lafayette in connection to the robbery. According to the probable cause affidavit, Wetterman said "it was me," to police once in custody.
Wetterman faces three felony charges.
Indiana State Police announced Monday they are re-opening a 32-year-old murder investigation. They said advances in forensic technology was one reason that led authorities to such decisions.
