LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Martell Williams, 23, of Lafayette faces three felony charges after police say he broke into a house and tried to steal items while one of the owners was inside.
According to court documents, a man saw Williams outside his home when he left on a walk Sept. 7, but left the front door unlocked.
Five minutes later, the man's wife thought her husband returned, but then saw a man she identified as Williams carrying a vase and a cell phone.
Police say when she yelled, Williams dropped the items and ran out of the house and was later located by officers at 6th and Salem.
He faces three charges including burglary.
