LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Lafayette woman faces charges of neglect of a dependent, afterallegedly leaving her two young children home alone while she wenton a date.
According to court documents, Evelyn Lee Murphy told police sheassumed her former roommate would go to her house last Friday towatch her five-year-old and eight-year-old sons.
The roommate called the police because she was concerned aboutthe older boy, who she said has ADHD and bipolar disorder, thedocument said.
The boys were taken into custody by Child Protective Services.According to the document, the children told a CPS representativetheir mother has left them home alone before, and there was notelephone available to call for help in an emergency.
