A Lafayette man faces seven criminal charges after prosecutors said he hit and strangled his pregnant wife in front of her 8-month-old son.
Last week, Lafayette police were called to a home on Lori Lee Drive.
Witnesses told police 18-year-old Lerry Young entered the house without knocking and he went directly to his wife and grabbed her.
Prosecutors said she told officers Young pinned her in a bedroom, before putting his arms around her throat and causing her to black out.
Witnesses told police Young also put his hands around the baby's throat.
According to court documents, Young bit a man trying to pull Young off his wife.
Prosecutors said Young tried to fight officers as they attempted to handcuff him.
Young is charged with five felonies and two misdemeanors, including battery resulting in bodily injury to a pregnant woman, strangulation, and battery on a child.
