TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - It took just 15 minutes for a jury to find 21-year-old Ty Wilkerson of Frankfort guilty of battery resulting in serious bodily injury after he beat up another inmate at the Tippecanoe County Jail.
Prosecutors say Wilkerson broke several facial bones of another inmate in February. This week, he was convicted of that crime.
Court documents say surveillance video showed Wilkerson hitting the unsuspecting man in the face, then later going back into the man's cell and continuing the fight.
Several days later, Wilkerson was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to dealing meth at the Knights Inn Motel in Lafayette in April 2012.
Sentencing for the battery charge is set for June 13.
