LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A homeless man, 33-year-old Terry McCollum, faces three felony charges after prosecutors say he stabbed a friend in the abdomen this summer.
According to court documents, McCollum stabbed Jason Menk on June 1 after Menk kicked McCollum and McCollum's girlfriend Andrea Bauer out of his home on Meadow Drive. Menk came home to find McCollum and Bauer inside. They got into a fight and McCollum stabbed Menk with a knife.
Officers later located McCollum's bag on 18th Street with a meth lab inside.
Police talked with Bauer in August who said they had spent some time in West Virginia.
McCollum is charged with battery, criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon and meth possession.
A shooting on Lafayette's south side is under investigation.
It's been nearly a month since a tornado damaged Southwestern Middle School and Mintonye Elementary School, giving faculty the task of helping students transition to their new surroundings.
