FOUNTAIN COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Fountain County Deputies say they've found the person responsible for hitting and killing a motorcyclist and then driving away.
Deputies said the accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. Sunday near the corner of Layton Station Road and County Road 200 South in Fountain County, just southwest of Veedersburg, Ind.
According to deputies, a red Ford Explorer was headed east on County Road 200 South and failed to yield the right of way to a motorcycle driven by 70-year-old Sam Abernathy of Covington, Ind.
Deputies say the Ford left the scene.
Sunday night around 10:30, the Sheriff's Office received information that the Ford in question might be located at a residence in Veedersburg.
Deputies went to that residence and located the vehicle.
Family members of the vehicle's owner gave deputies enough information to secure an arrest warrant for the owner, Brandin D. Bacon of Cayuga, Ind.
Deputies arrested Bacon at 10 Monday morning. He was booked in the Fountain County Jail on a charge of failure to stop after an accident resulting in death, a class C felony.
He's being held on a $15,000 bond.
A shooting on Lafayette's south side is under investigation.
