LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A former Purdue football player was arrested at the Tippecanoe Mall Tuesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
West Lafayette police said Dewayne Beckford was arrested at the Sprint kiosk where he was working. He was booked into the Tippecanoe County Jail and is being held without bond.
News 18 reported in August of last year, Beckford was arrested on three warrants for failing to appear in court. He had been on probation from multiple arrests including alcohol and marijuana-related offenses.
According to online documents, a warrant was issued for his arrest on Friday.
Beckford was a starting linebacker for the Purdue Boilermakers, until former head coach Danny Hope dismissed him from the team in August 2012.
