MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Ball State University said a student made up a story about being stabbed during a robbery attempt on campus.
University spokeswoman Joan Todd told The Star Press in an e-mail Monday that campus police "have determined that the report of an assault and attempted robbery on campus is not true, and no other person was involved in the injury." She said police consider the case closed.
The student had reported the attack occurred near Worthen Arena late on October 26.
Delaware County Prosecutor Jeffrey Arnold says he hasn't reviewed the case yet, but criminal charges are possible in the case.
Charges of false informing have been filed by prosecutors in similar cases.
