WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Arbor Day is an occasion for us to plant trees and remind ourselves of those trees' importance. A group of pre-schoolers gathered with the mayor to do just that Friday.
West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis (R) read a proclamation and explained Arbor Day to the kids, and as a group, they planted several trees on the south side of Tapawingo Park.
The West Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department says these types of programs for kids can build a lifelong enthusiasm in tree planting.
