He graduated from the Purdue University School of Pharmacy in 1973 and followed that experience with a degree in dentistry from Indiana University four years later. Since then Dr. Swoverland has been in private practice and reaping the rewards of what he calls the one-on-one nature of dentistry. "I don't think I ever imagined that dentistry would be as much fun as it is" says Dr. Swoverland. "Working directly with patients, being a member of a respected profession and having the desire to be a leader in offering the highest standard of care is all part of the enjoyment. While I can achieve an outward change in a patient, It is extremely rewarding to witness the inner change that occurs with a healthy smile." One of his wife's favorite quotes is, 'You can't give a smile away. It always comes back," Dr. Swoverland realizes this every day.

Several years ago, in search of a way to relieve his own chronic head and neck pain, Dr. Swoverland attended a class at the renowned Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI). The experience changed not only his life, but the lives of many of his patients. Overnight, by properly repositioning his bite, his head and neck pain disappeared and his posture was much improved. "Once you have a life-altering experience, you must share it with others,"' says Dr. Swoverland, who went on to learn as much as he could about the intricacies of both cosmetic and neuromuscular dentistry, and then brought this expertise to his patients.
