(LIN) -- Two heavy hitters that were expected to scramble the 2012 field have declared their intentions to stay on the sidelines in this week in political quotes.

Election 2012

"Now is not my time." -- Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., announcing he will not join the Republican 2012 field of presidential candidates.

"After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for president of the United States." -- Former Gov. and 2008 nominee for vice president, Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, ending speculation she would join the 2012 race.

Wall Street Protests

"Don't be jealous, don't be envious. I don't have much patience for someone who does not want to achieve their American dream the old-fashioned way." -- 2012 Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, after saying the “Occupy Wall Street” protesters are anti-American and anti-capitalistic.
