Obama pushes manufacturing; GOP warns of spending

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says some jobs are gone forever but that American manufacturing is reinventing itself.

In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama says the painful restructuring of America's manufacturing base does not mean Americans must "settle for a lesser future."

Obama says new technology and new efficiencies are leading to job creation.

For the Republicans, the concern continues to be spending. Washington state Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers warns that Obama's overspending will set the country up for a financial implosion like the one in Greece.

She accuses Obama of "proposing that we spend more and more," instead of making tough choices to bring down the national debt.
