AUSTIN (AP) - Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison said Gov. Rick Perry's oversight of the Texas Enterprise Fund is unacceptable, and she's calling for an immediate audit of the job creation program.

Hutchison's statement Thursday comes two days after Perry revealed some enterprise fund contracts were canceled and others changed to make them more favorable to participating companies.

Perry made the disclosure as the nonprofit Texans for Public Justice was about to release a report on problems with the program.

Hutchison claimed Perry's office was trying to cover up damaging news in an election year. Perry on Thursday again defended the fund as successful.
