WASHINGTON (CNN) - George Herbert Walker Bush was the 41st president. He was born June 12th, 1924.

Bush served as director of the CIA and later as vice president under Ronald Reagan.

After Iraqi President Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, Bush rallied the United Nations and Americans and Iraq's million-man Army was routed in Desert Storm.

After serving one term, Bush lost to Bill Clinton in the 1992 presidential election largely because of the economic conditions in the U.S.
