INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - After careful deliberation, Republican Indiana Congressman Mike Pence has decided not to run against Evan Bayh for the U.S. Senate.
Pence announced his decision in a letter posted on facebook to his friends and supporters.
In the letter he said that he would seek reelection to the 6th Congressional District in 2010.
He cited two reason, “First because I have been given the responsibility to shape the Republican comeback as a member of the House Republican Leadership and, second, because I believe Republicans will win back the majority in the House of Representatives in 2010.”
Bayh will face several GOP challengers which include former U.S. Rep. John Hostettler, Indiana Sen. Marlin Stutzman of Howe, Richmond, financial adviser Don Bates Jr. and Fishers businessman Richard Behney.
