INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A coalition of unions and environmental groups is calling for more renewable energy in Indiana.
The Blue Green Alliance wants 25% of all electricity to come from wind or solar power.
Leaders say that as many as 39,000 jobs could be created if the state would provide incentives.
“Indiana is the only state in the upper Midwest which has no renewable electric standard requiring utilities to provide a certain percentage of their electricity from renewable energy sources,” said Steve Francis of the Sierra Club.
The state legislature is considering a bill that would create a renewable electric standard.
