GOLDEN, Colo. (CNN/KCNC) - Reaching a speed of 40 mph, a 17-year-old skateboarder slammed into a deer during a competition and the entire encounter was caught on camera.
"I remember opening my eyes and being on top of a deer," said contestant Ryan Vital. "And then I was pretty much in shock and so was the deer."
The teen says the deer broke his fall, leaving him with road rash and a sore body, but no broken bones.
The deer appeared to be OK too.
