SAN FRANCISCO (CNN/KRON) - San Francisco's Bay Bridge was turned into a light show Tuesday night, and thousands of people turned out to watch the public display.
In the $8 million project, 25,000 LED lights were installed on the cables of its western span and programmed to show patterns and sequences.
The display will shine every night between dusk and 2 a.m. for the next two years.
City officials said they hope it will help boost tourism.
