(CNN) - If you're looking to kick off your 2013 with some thrills and chills, we've got just the movie for you.

"Texas Chainsaw 3D" picks up where the 1974 horror film left off. Decades after a mob believed they had killed every member of a homicidal family, a young woman travels with her friends to Texas to claim an inheritance. Little does she know her new home is filled with secrets about a grisly past.

Also in theaters this weekend, "A Dark Truth" featuring Eva Longoria and Forest Whitaker. It's an environmental thriller about a whistle blower working to expose the role her company played in a massacre of South American villagers.
