DENVER, CO. (WLFI - blog) - Friends and family,
It is Monday night in Denver, and we are anxiously awaiting takeoff! The past few days have been full of meetings and briefings about the race, but we found time to make it to a Rockies game on Friday night. The park was beautiful and sunset over the mountains was something you definitely cannot see in West Lafayette. We also made a Target run to get some new racing shoes, ready for anything that comes our way!
We've learned so much from the veteran racers just listening to their stories and even met an original WASP (Woman Airforce Service Pilot) from WWII. At our stop in Sweetwater, TX, we learned from the airport manager, John Howard, that we were on the very field where all the WASP's did their primary training. Having spent an hour or two with John and his friendly pup, Cowboy, we look forward to returning in the near future. We even made a stop at Wal-mart to get some photos printed that we had taken with John and Cowboy to leave a little Boilermaker spirit in Longhorn country:)
Tomorrow morning could not get here any faster, as we are ready to get airborne and start racing! We will try and add photos to our website along the way, and those of you on facebook can check out the albums added to Lauren's profile. Thanks and we'll talk to y'all (as many of the racers say) soon!
