East Coast snow storms delay local travel

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Flying out of Indianapolis International Airport takes on all new challenges Friday for travelers heading to the East Coast, especially Boston and New York City.

Some 1,800 flights have been pre-emptively canceled ahead of the snow that is expected to hit that area sometime during the afternoon Friday.

Many travelers say  they had to either get on an earlier flight or try flying out of a different city.

"I need to get home. I have friends flying over, a wife that is pregnant so I need to get home, even if I walk home" Ali Pashazadeh said about getting home.

Pashazadeh told 24-Hour-News 8, he originally was flying through Washington DC on his way to London when he was delayed.

"We went through this in Europe when we had the volcano in Iceland and I was stuck in Frankfort for 3 days. It was a really depressing city so being there for three days was quite tough" Pashazadeh said jokingly about the last time he had travel troubles.

The Indianapolis International Airport says the best way to be informed about your flight status is to check with your airline. Officials say the airline has the fastest and most up to date information on the status of your flight.
