WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue women's basketball team travels to Louisville Kentucky on Friday. Purdue is two days away from playing in the first round of NCAA Tournament matchup against Liberty at the KFC Yum Center.

One Boilermaker who is especially excited for the trip is Purdue freshman guard, April Wilson. She is returning to her hometown of Louisville. She played high school basketball at DuPont Manual, which is just 15 minutes from the KFC Yum Center.

"I am excited," said Wilson. "A lot of my friends and family have not seen me play yet. It will be a great opportunity for them to come watch me play."

"You know to be a freshman and to make her first NCAA and going back to her home is probably pretty special," said Purdue head coach Sharon Versyp.

"April is going back home and that is awesome," said Purdue junior guard Courtney Moses. "I know she is already really excited."

Wilson's teammates hope that her return home, will put more Purdue fans in the stands come Sunday.

"I am hoping that all of her friends and family are going to be there," said Purdue senior forward Sam Ostarello. "I am hoping we can pack the house. So, hopefully she knows a lot of people. I think she does."

"I am going to try and get them all shirts if I can," said Wilson. "If not they are going to buy one or paint up or something."

Wilson hopes to play a key role in leading Purdue to a win over Liberty, while putting on a good show for her family and friends.

Purdue's game against Liberty tips-off at 12:10 Eastern Time on Sunday.
