WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The West Lafayette Red Devils knocked off the McCutcheon Mavericks 52-41 on Saturday afternoon at West Lafayette High School.

The Red Devils got off to a fast start on Saturday and took advantage of a sluggish Maverickls team that didn't score until the 2:08 mark in the first quarter. By that point, West Lafayette had gotten out to a 13-0 lead. Great ball movement and patience on the offensive end was key to West Lafayette's success early on.

McCutcheon responded in the second quarter with a better offensive flow and finally getting some shots to go. Freshman Mark Neill and sophomore Nathan Deno led the Mavericks back as McCutcheon only trailed 29-20 at the half.

In the end it was the slow start that cost the Mavericks. Trailing 50-29 late in the game, McCutcheon used a 12-2 run to end the game but it wasn't enough. West Lafayette improves their record to 14-5 with a 52-41 victory over McCutcheon.

West Lafayette was led by senior Sean Busch who finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Junior Tory Eager added 11 points. McCutcheon was led by freshman Mark Neill who scored 11 points. Tre'Shon Heard added 10 points for the Mavericks.
