WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Infiniti announced on Tuesday that it will once again partner with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the NCAA and ESPN as sponsor of the Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge.

Purdue head coach Matt Painter is participating for the third year and representing the Smith Family BReaK Thru Fund.

The program pits 48 NABC coaches from the nation’s top programs in a fan-vote challenge, with Infiniti’s total contribution exceeding $300,000. Now in its third year, Infiniti will make a $100,000 contribution to the winning coach’s designated charity.

The Smith Family BReaK Thru Fund is a West Lafayette-based organization whose mission is to fund research to fight Niemann-Pick Type C Disease (NPC). The fund was set up by a family with three children impacted by NPC, and has funded more than $200,000 in research at Purdue since its inception in 2008.

Fan participation will determine the ultimate winner over an eight-week period by registering and voting on a custom microsite at espn.com/Infiniti. For the first six weeks, four brackets of 12 coaches will be matched against each other with the winners of each group moving on to week seven and the final round in week eight.

Fans can vote for one coach per region per day. The winning coach will be announced on March 11, 2013.
