LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - McCutcheon high school announced Thursday afternoon that Travis Fuller has resigned as the volleyball coach to take a volunteer assistant coaching position at Purdue.
After one season as the head coach at McCutcheon high school, Travis Fuller has resigned to chase his dream job as a collegiate coach.
"I chose now to do it because you don't get the opportunity everyday to work with a top 15 program in the country, with one of the best coach's in the country, in the best conference in the country,"said Travis Fuller. This opportunity also aligned with my ultimate goal of coaching in college and this opportunity is a perfect stepping stone," said Fuller.
During his one season as the McCutcheon head coach the Mavericks won 9 matches and continued to improve as the season progressed. And although he is leaving for a chance of a lifetime, Fuller is greatful for the time he spent at McCutcheon.
"It's a difficult time to walk away from McCutcheon but I believe the foundation last year was built for excellence in the future. I don't have any doubt that Ryan Walden will do a great job at filling the position with a worthy coach," said Fuller.
"The McCutcheon volleyball community greatly appreciates everything that Travis has done for our program and we wish him the best of luck at Purdue, said McCutcheon Athletics Director Ryan Walden.
The search for a new coach will begin immediately for McCutcheon Athletic Director Ryan Walden.
