WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - What was to be the first game in Alexander Field, and the first game this season, period, has been canceled for Purdue's baseball team.
In an effort to maximize the number of innings played in sunlight with temperatures throughout the Midwest expected to remain unseasonable, Purdue baseball’s home opener and Alexander Field debut game Tuesday had been moved up to a 4 p.m. first pitch.
However according to Purdue Associate Athletics Director Tom Schott, the game has officially been canceled.
The opener at the new ballpark against Illinois-Chicago was originally scheduled for 6 p.m., meaning a good portion of the game would have been played under the lights as the temperature dropped.
We'll let you know when the new game time is when it is re-scheduled.
