The Boilermakers feel rested & recharged as they begin their stretch run

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Coming off a bye week the Purdue football team is rested and recharged. The Boilermakers made the most of the extra time off and are ready to get back to work.

“We're fortunate that we had a bye week. It gave us some opportunities for our staff to spend some time breaking down the film that we had on Marshall. We came up with a game plan that we feel good about. We spent a lot of time last week and we will again this week with our defense going against our offense. That is the best preparation that we can have,” said Purdue head coach Danny Hope.

“The bye week definitely helped, I feel like it helped the entire team, everyone was able to get their feet under them and get their energy back and get ready for the home stretch,” said senior quarterback Caleb TerBush.

For the first time since the 2007 season Purdue is receiving votes in both the Associated Press and Coaches Poll. Building on that momentum and continuing to get better will be KEY for the Boilermakers.

“Were not in the rankings right now but we definitely feel like we have a lot of  people on our team that can make plays and we feel like we are a lot more mature then we were last year. Rankings don't really matter. Like I said we have to go out there and on Saturday and take care of business and show everyone that we are one of those top 25 teams,” said TerBush.

“We still have to be sounder and not miss our assignments. I feel like we are working our way up but right now we feel like we have things to work on,” said senior defensive tackle Kawann Short.

“I think we are playing like a good football team early in the season. The key for our football team is to continue to get better. We know that if we continue to improve were going to be a hard outfit to beat,” said Hope.

Through four games Marshall has averaged 41 points and nearly 600 yards of total offense per game. How that translates against a tough Purdue defense will be fun to watch.
