WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A pair of former Purdue football players were selected in the 2009 NFL Draft, highlighted by the Indianapolis Colts selecting former Boilermaker quarterback Curtis Painter in the sixth round.
Kansas City selected former Boilermaker defensive tackle Alex Magee in the third round. The Chiefs have former Boilermaker Bernard Pollard on their current roster.
It's the first time in three years that a former Purdue player was not selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. Dallas took former Purdue defensive end Anthony Spencer in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. The New York Jets picked former Boilermaker tight end and Lafayette Jeff standout Dustin Keller in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
