WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - According to a Purdue news release, a sophomore on the Purdue women's basketball team has undergone a second surgery on her foot.
Ashley Wilson, a guard and forward for the team, initially underwent surgery in March of this year. The intent of the surgery was to assist with the healing of a stress fracture. She has now undergone a second surgery.
The release stated that Wilson is expected to return in time for the Big Ten Conference Games.
The news release included this statement from head coach Sharon Versyp:
“Ashley has worked very hard this summer with her rehab, so certainly she’s disappointed. However, she’s a tough young lady with a tremendous work ethic who will make the best of the situation. We’re all supporting her 100 percent and we know that she’s getting the best care possible.”
