WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue's volleyball team fell in a stunning loss to Iowa on Saturday night on Belin Court.
Iowa had just one win in the Big Ten entering its match against the Boilermakers. The Hawkeyes won the match 25-23, 25-23, 25-18, snapping a four-match Purdue win streak in the series and giving the Hawkeyes their first win in West Lafayette since the 2000 season.
Purdue was coming off a three set loss to No. 4 Nebraska on Friday night. The Boilers drop to 13-4 on the season and 4-2 in Big Ten play. All of Purdue's losses this season have been sweeps.
Senior Ariel Turner led the way for the Boilermakers with a 14-kill, 12-dig double double, while sophomore Kiki Jones added nine kills and senior Anna Drewry chipped in eight.
True freshman Amanda Neill, who stepped into the libero role in sets 2 and 3, managed seven digs, while setter Rachel Davis added six. Drewry paced the team at the net with three blocks, while Turner added two.
Purdue returns to action next Friday when it travels to Penn State. That game is set to begin at 8 pm.
