WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue baseball will host an open house at Alexander Field Saturday, Sept. 22 with the event serving as an opportunity for fans to personally select their seat location for season tickets at the program’s new stadium.

Purdue athletics will open the doors to Alexander Field from 1-3 p.m. on Sept. 22. The 1-1:30 p.m. time slot is reserved for John Purdue Club members to have the first selection of seat locations for season tickets. The new facilities at Alexander Field will also be open for public viewing in conjunction with the open house and season ticket drive. Members of the 2012-13 Purdue baseball team will also be signing autographs during the open house.

Alexander Field will feature approximately 1,600 permanent seats, including the suite level on the second floor of the stadium structure. Chairback stadium seats number at 479, 120 of which were sold as reserved season tickets at the JPC Old Gold and Black Dinner, Aug. 31. General admission seating in the grass berm along the left field line pushes the initial total capacity of the stadium to nearly 2,000. There was also space set aside for additional bleachers to be added to the concourse for postseason contests and other marquee events.

The permanent chairback bleacher seats will be general admission seating. Season ticket prices are $60 for reserved chairback stadium seats, $35 for adult general admission and $25 for youth general admission.

Purdue’s 2013 home schedule features 23 dates. Game times are still being finalized and will be flexible early in the season as weather dictates. Big Ten Network-televised games could also have their start times flexed. But the lights at Alexander Field will allow the program to play night games for the first time. The majority of the weekday games are expected to start at 6 or 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday games are expected to feature afternoon start times.

Tuesday, March 19 against Illinois-Chicago is the first scheduled game in Alexander Field History. The Boilermakers host Ohio State that weekend for the first Big Ten series at the new ballpark. Northwestern, Nebraska, Southern Illinois and Iowa also travel to West Lafayette for weekend series. An Alexander Field dedication game is being planned for mid-April.

Purdue’s 2012 team won the Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles. Along with qualifying for the NCAA Tournament, the program was selected as one of 16 Regional hosts nationally by the NCAA.
