WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A season ago the Purdue's football team fell to Michigan 36-14, but this is a new year and a new Boilermaker team.
Purdue owns a 3-1 record and is enjoying an above .500 non-conference record for the first time since 2007. The Boilers remember last year's loss to Michigan and plan on turning the tables this Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium.
"We have always talked about wanting to start out fast and that goes for the Big Ten season," said Purdue senior quarterback Caleb TerBush. "Michigan is coming into Ross-Ade and they are a tough team but we feel like we are a tough team too and we just have to play our A game like I said and execute and let the pieces fall where they will."
The Boilermakers have been picked by many to finish close to the top of the Leaders Division this season in the Big Ten. But Purdue understands that in order to accomplish that goal they need to live up to the hype and kick off the Big Ten season with a win over the Wolverines.
"It will be huge for our football team to get a win at Ross-Ade Stadium and to continue to be undefeated at Ross-Ade Stadium and a win over a quality opponent like Michigan would be fantastic for our team and our program," said Purdue head coach Danny Hope. "It would be an excellent step in the right direction in our pursuit of returning to national prominence. Michigan won 11 games last year and they are a very good football team. So, it's a great opportunity but we positioned ourselves to be in this position."
But in order to get the win, Purdue's defense has to step up and find a way to slow down Michigan's quarterback Denard Robinson.
Purdue will play host to Michigan on Saturday at 4:00 pm at Ross-Ade Stadium.
