Purdue refuses to give up on 2012 season & will take the final four games one play at a time

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Purdue football team is in desperate need of a victory and will look to snap a four game losing streak on Saturday against Penn State. The Nittany Lions have won the last five meetings against the Boilermakers.

Purdue will turn to injured quarterback Robert Marve when they take on Penn State and the senior is ready to lead by example with only four games left in his college career.

"I want to go out there and have some fun. So that's what I'm looking forward to. I had a great time at the EKU game. I plan on having a similar type of game this week. I want to have some fun. It's been a long year, a long, long time in college. I'm looking forward to representing Purdue as well as I can," said senior quarterback Robert Marve.

Learning from the previous four losses started with breaking down the film and identifying what areas of the game the Boilermakers needed the most help at. Danny Hope still believes in his football team and doesn't think they have given up on this season just yet.

"We have lost a little bit of momentum as a football team and maybe some confidence as a football team and those are the things we are working on the hardest right now," said head coach Danny Hope.

With rumors swirling about Danny Hopes future at Purdue. Kawann Short and Robert Marve understand the team must step up now.

"We have a good coaching staff and it's all on the players at the end of the day. It's how we perform and it's up to the players to go out there and make something happen. We feel like it's on us and we aren't performing as well," said senior defensive tackle Kawann Short.

"If our team is not urgent now then we need to stop playing the games. We're 3-5 and it's time to start playing football and it's time to play now," said Marve.

The Nittany Lions visit Ross-Ade Stadium for the first time since the 2008 season and the Boilermakers will attempt to win their first game against Penn State since 2004.
