WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue men's basketball won an overtime thriller against Iowa 65-62 on Sunday at Mackey Arena.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first half. Iowa made just 15 percent of its field goal attempts while Purdue made just 29 percent. The Boilers took a 19-16 lead into halftime.
The second half was a different story. Both teams shot over 40 percent and ended regulation with a 54-54 tie.
Purdue was led by Terone Johnson, who poured in 17 points and 12 rebounds. Ronnie Johnson added 15 points and 4 assists. Donnie Hale played a season-high 29 minutes and he was very productive. Hale finished with 12 points and 5 rebounds.
Purdue improves to 11-9 and 4-3 in Big Ten play. Iowa drops to 13-7 overall and 2-5 in Big Ten play.
The Boilermakers return to action Wednesday when they host rival Indiana. Tip-off is set for 8:30 pm.
