Purdue men bounce back at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Penn. (WLFI) - Purdue men's basketball team beat Penn State 58-49 on Tuesday night.

The Boilermakers bounced back with a much needed win after dropping two games in a row to Indiana and Northwestern.

Purdue trailed Penn State at halftime 25-24. The Boilermakers responded in the second half by outscoring the Nittany Lions 34-24 in the second half.

The Boilermakers out-rebounded Penn State 40-35. Purdue struggled from beyond the three-point line, making 0-10 attempts.

Purdue's Ronnie Johnson led the team in scoring with 16 points. A.J. Hammons added 15 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks. Donnie Hale played great off the bench for the Boilers by scoring 10 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Former Faith Christian Eagle, Stephen Toyra played seven minutes in the game. He grabbed two rebounds and also took a charge.

Purdue improves to 12-11 overall and 5-5 in Big Ten play. The Boilermakers return to action on Saturday when they play host to Michigan State. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
