WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Purdue men’s basketball team cruised to a 109-68 victory over Newberry in its second and final exhibition game of the 2012 season.

Junior Terone Johnson led the way for the Boilermakers with a team high 18 points. Terone was perfect from the field in the first half as he help the gold and black extend their lead to 44-33 at the half.

Terone’s younger brother, freshman Ronnie Johnson scored 16 points while fellow freshman Rapheal Davis added 16 points as well.

Purdue will open the regular season on Nov. 9 when it hosts Bucknell in the first game of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project West Lafayette Regional; the Boilermakers will also play Hofstra at home two days later before heading to New York City and Madison Square Garden for the tournament's championship rounds.

Head Coach Matt Painter heads into the season with 160 wins at Purdue, 16 shy of tying Ray Eddy for third place on the program's coaching victories chart (176).
