COLUMBUS, OH (WLFI) - The Purdue Boilermakers were tied with the Ohio State Buckeyes at halftime 40-40. Purdue stayed close in the second half but Ohio State picked up the 87-84 win.
Purdue bounced back with a nice effort against Ohio State, after a tough loss at Mackey Arena to Indiana. The Boilers made 51 percent of their field goal attempts at Ohio State and only had three turnovers. Ohio State out rebounded Purdue though 31-21.
D.J. Byrd led Purdue in scoring with 24 points. Kelsey Barlow added 14 points and Robbie Hummel finished with 13 points. Lewis Jackson came off the bench in this game and scored 14 points. William Buford led Ohio State in scoring with 29 points.
Purdue drops to 15-9 overall and 5-6 in Big Ten play. The Boilers have lost their last four out of five games. Ohio State improves to 21-3 and 9-2 in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes have won 39 games in a row at home. The last team to beat them at home was Purdue.
The Boilers return to action on February 12 against Northwestern at Mackey Arena. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
