Purdue basketball teams get ready for return

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Both Purdue basketball squads are inching closer to returning to action.

Head Coach Matt Painter and the Boilers' men's squad will host William and Mary on Saturday afternoon at Mackey Arena.

The game is slated to tip off at 2 p.m. EST.

As for Purdue women's basketball, Head Coach Sharon Versyp and the 11th-ranked Boilermaker players practiced late Thursday afternoon with less than a full squad due to an injury, an illness and travel issues.

The Boilermakers continue to be without senior forward Chantel Poston, who is recovering from athroscopic knee surgery in early December.

Sophomore forward Liza Clemons could miss Saturday's game at fifth-ranked Notre Dame as Clemons is battling the flu.

And some of the players were still returning from their respective out-of-town family holidays and some of players' return trips, including senior forward and co-captain Drey Mingo, were delayed to the recent nasty weather.

Coach Versyp talked about the Gold and Black playing well defensively but also adding that the defense can always get better.
