WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue's baseball team picked up a 15-8 win over Notre Dame on Sunday to begin the season 3-0.
The game was highlighted by a nine-run sixth inning from Purdue, that featured a grand slam from Cameron Perkins. The Boilers scored in each of the final five innings to overcome a four-run deficit.
Purdue was the only Big Ten team to begin the opening weekend undefeated.
Barrett Serrato and David Miller each finished with three hits, two RBI's and two runs scored.
Purdue is off to its first 3-0 start since the Boilers went 5-0 in 1991.
Purdue's softball team also finished the weekend undefeated. Purdue picked up two wins on Saturday and followed that up with an 8-6 win over Central Arkansas and a 10-6 win over New Mexico on Sunday.
Senior Molly Garst, Ashley Courtney, and sophomore Danielle Fletcher each posted two hits in Sunday's win against Central Arkansas.
Erika Petruzzi and Lindsey Rains each hit a homerun in the Boilers win over New Mexico. The Boilers are 4-0 on the season.
