Post 11 advances to regional title game

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette Post 11 and Remington Post 280 remained in the winners bracket by winning their respective opening games at the American Legion Regional baseball tournament Friday at Loeb Stadium in Lafayette.

Lafayette Post 11 defeated Muncie 15-1 in a seven-inning contest while Remington Post 280 defeated Richmond Post 65 7-4.

On Saturday, Lafayette Post 11 beat Remington Post 280 16-9. Lafayette advanced on to the regional title game on Sunday at 1 pm.

In the loser's bracket Richmond post 65 knocked off Remington Post 280 by a final score of 8-4. Richmond and Lafayette will square off at 1:00 p.m. at Loeb Stadium. Richmond must defeat Lafayette twice to win the regional title. 

In Lafayette's two wins so far in Lafayette Regional games, Post 11 has outscored their opponents 32-10.

Lafayette Jeff graduate Sam Russell will get the start tomorrow for Post 11. The former Broncho will be looking for another good outing at Loeb Stadium, a place he is very familiar with.
